Captain (Victor) Charles HAYES

Victor Charles Hayes, often known as Vic, was born at 218 rue Grenelle, Paris 7e on 29 April 1908. He held dual nationality, being the child of British parents - Charles Arthur Hayes, originally from Lancashire, and Florence Houdret Hayes (née Cole) – who had settled in France. Charles Arthur Hayes was a pharmacist and had moved to Paris following his elder brother who was working as a tailor, which was the family trade. Vic’s mother, Florence, was a nurse who had met her future husband in France. Vic had two siblings, sister Marguerite (“Rita” or “Ginny”), and brother Jack, who was also to become an agent of French Section, SOE.......
